Patent Searching & USPTO Search Tools – USPTO Expert, Mr. M. Neil Massong

Join us at the USPTO to hear from Mr. M. Neil Massong, who has taught the public version of EAST to public users since 2001 and is considered one of the USPTO’s resident experts on this system – EAST is one of the primary resource tools for patent searching. Neil has extensive experience both training professional patent searchers, as well as helping independent inventors at the PTO’s Public Search Facilities, and librarians at the Patent and Trademark Resource Centers throughout the country.

With 26 years of experience at the USPTO, and the last 8 in the Patent and Trademark Resource Center Program, Mr. Massong has refined methods for effective patent searching – and he will share them with you!

Program includes: best techniques for patent searching; what parts of patent is most relevant?; and, what can direct me to expand my search? He will also review the advantages/disadvantages of the various USPTO databases, and best practices for the iterative patent search process.
